Roxby Junior Sports Academy
Vision
To provide select talented athletes across all sports in Roxby Downs with increased sporting opportunities and to assist in identifying clear talent pathways at either a local, state and national level.
The Academy will provide Athletes with access to specialised coaches in key areas including Strength, Conditioning, Speed, Agility, Acceleration, Plyometrics, Sports Psychology, Media Training and Nutrition.
Whilst the focus is around sport, elite achievement is just one of the outcomes envisaged for the Academy. Other essential components include discipline, time management, self-motivation, goal setting, strong work ethic, determination, knowledge and resilience. It is also anticipated that the Academy will assist in the transition for athletes relocating to Adelaide to pursue a career in their chosen sport.
With grateful thanks to BHP, a major supporter of the Academy, there are opportunities for athletes to travel to Adelaide Crows headquarters for an Inner Sanctum experience to gain a valuable insight to performing at the elite level. There is also the opportunity to participate in elite level testing with the High Performance centre at the University of SA in Adelaide.
Structure
The Roxby Junior Sports Academy is coordinated by the Sport and Recreation Forum which is part of the Roxby Downs Community Board.
The Roxby Junior Sports Academy working group is made up of representatives across various sports and sectors of the Roxby Downs community bringing with them a wealth of skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. The working group includes a representative from each of the following organisations:

- St Barbara’s Catholic School – PE Teacher
- Roxby Downs Area School
- Sport and Recreation Officer
- Roxby Link Group Manager – Lifestyle and Sport

- Roxby Downs Junior Basketball Association
- RJSA High Performance Coaches
- Roxby Academy of Dance
