Artistic Background
Having no visual memory is quite a challenge for an artist!!! I start each piece knowing only the medium/technique I will use, cannot pre visualise anything, and experience each work as it develops before my eyes.
Although I studied art formally whilst at Uni. and savoured every second of it, it wasn't until more than 40 years later, after retiring, that I had the luxury of time to indulge my artistic outpourings.
I began my artistic journey by exploring impressions of the moods, textures, movement and patterns nature provides us. Experimenting with a wide variety of media, I explored shape, form, texture, colour, flow and environment. Using a host of traditional art mediums, natural items, reused and found objects, I have over time incorporated painting, textiles, collage, geometrics, 3D constructions and abstracts into my works. Also for a while I experimented with using unusual surfaces as my "canvas". Over time I became a prolific, and successful, although “non conventional” artist and have used a number of my artworks as a medium through which to raise awareness of environmental issues.
In December 2019 I discovered techniques which allow me to work with oil pastels to produce realistic pictures - some in fine line detail, and others in solid colour . I enjoy using pets, birds, wildlife, water life and farm animals as my main subjects.
I have been a long term member of the Gawler Art Society (have also been Society Treasurer) and a member of the Gawler Community Gallery (Committee Member 2018). In 2020 I was asked to be a judge at the Gawler Horticultural Show - for the Arts entries -   which I accepted with pleasure.
