Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2019/20

The Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget outlines Council’s priorities and program of works for the next 12 months. It allocates funding for key projects and services, and shows how your rates are invested.

Council released its Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2019/20 for a period of community consultation from 8-29 April 2019. The consultation included a community information session and Facebook Live event where the community was able to provide feedback and/or ask questions about the document.

Council considered all of the feedback to the document and made any required changes. The Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget was then formally presented to the Department of Energy and Mining and BHP for approval as required under the Roxby Downs (Indenture Agreement) Act.

The final Annual Business Plan and Budget 2019/20 was adopted by Council at the 26 June Council meeting.

Draft Order Making Policy

In accordance with Section 259 of the Local Government Act 1999, (the Act) the Municipal Council of Roxby Downs invited written submissions from the community in relation to the Draft Order Making Policy.  The consultation ran for a period of three weeks from 23 May to 14 June 2019.

The policy allows Council to facilitate a safe and healthy environment, improve the amenity of the locality and is generally for the good governance of the district. Instead of using by-laws to regulate activity on private land, the Local Government Act 1999 provides councils with the power to make specified orders to target particular cases of local nuisance when they arise. Examples include:

  • Unsightly condition of property,
  • Hazards on lands adjoining a public place,
  • Animals that may cause a nuisance or hazard (includes birds and insects) and
  • Inappropriate use of a vehicle.

No submissions were received and the Order Making Policy was adopted by Council at its meeting of 26 June 2019.
