A Myriad of Media - Tineta Ellis

3rd May - 30th June 2024

An interactive scavenger hunt exhibition - new tasks weekly!

Adelaide artist Tineta Ellis returns with her 8th annual solo exhibition.

Having no visual memory is quite a challenge for an artist!!! I start each piece knowing only the medium/technique I will use, cannot pre visualise anything, and experience each work as it develops before my eyes.

The works in this exhibition stem from the very beginnings of my artistic journey - exploring impressions of the moods, textures, movement and patterns nature provides us and move through to today – textiles, collage and oil pastel portraits.

Experimenting with a wide variety of media, I began exploring shape, form, texture, colour, flow and environment. Using a host of traditional art mediums, natural items, reused and found objects, I incorporated painting, textiles, collage, geometrics, 3D constructions and abstracts into my works. Also for a while I experimented with using unusual surfaces as my "canvas".

Over time I became a prolific, and successful, (although for many years “non conventional”) artist and have used a number of my artworks as a medium through which to raise awareness of environmental issues.

This exhibition is intended to be interactive and can be enjoyed as a scavenger hunt through the artworks, with the activities changing weekly to keep things fresh!!! It can also be enjoyed traditionally, as a journey through “A Myriad Of Media”.

Whichever way you choose I hope you have as much fun as I have had in experimenting, producing and exhibiting these works. Please enjoy and also be critical – that’s what art’s all about!!!!!!
