The Hermit Street Nature Play Space opened to the public on Thursday 7 May 2020.

The redevelopment of the playground area came after consultation with the community and was also facilitated by a team of community stakeholders which included education leaders, forum volunteers and Roxby Downs residents.

The aim of the redevelopment was to provide a recreational space that encourages the community of Roxby Downs to embrace the Roxby Downs environment and for children to utilise their imagination to enjoy a range of outdoor developmental activities.  It was also important for materials to be durable and sustainable given the harsh Roxby climate.

The playground has secure fencing, shade over the play area, a public toilet, drinking fountain and shaded area with barbecue.
