We know many in the Roxby Downs community have faced challenges accessing flights between Roxby Downs and Adelaide.
To help improve availability, larger Virgin Australia-operated flights will be introduced for Olympic Dam workforce travel. While these flights are not available for community booking, they will free up more seats on Alliance services.
Publicly available seats will continue to be offered on Alliance flights, with over 700 total seats available across the week. They can be booked via the Alliance website.
Community fares remain available to residents of Roxby Downs, Andamooka, Woomera and surrounding communities. If there’s availability, that can even extend to family members – for example, children travelling to and from boarding school, or flying parents up for a visit. Particular care is taken to support passengers travelling for medical reasons or emergencies. They are not available to Olympic Dam or Roxby Downs FIFO workers. Upgrades to Olympic Dam Airport are also underway to support these changes and future growth. These works will not impact current flight schedules, and no increase in aircraft noise is expected. Regular updates will be provided.
