Future Playground Upgrades and Development

12th November 2020

Council is committed to providing access to welcoming, safe and well-maintained community spaces such as parks and playgrounds. Playgrounds and parks are important spaces for families and just one of many ways to promote an active, healthy and connected community.

2019/20 saw the completion of the renewal of the Lions Park space and playground with the installation of new seating/barbeque areas, paving, a water fountain and recycling bins. The Hermit Street nature play space (formerly Hermit Street Playground) is complete and includes toilets and all round fencing to ensure the safety of all playground visitors.

The 2020/21 budget allocation for items under the playground renewal and development strategy include:
* Pine Crescent Playgrounds – planning and consultation - $20k
* Pioneer Street Playground – planning and consultation - $10k
* Community consultation and development of plans with regard to a new playground site in the
southern (Subsection C) area of the Roxby Downs Township. Families residing in subsection C have limited
access to a playground within walking distance of their homes. Council is setting aside $20k to plan, consult
and forward proposals regarding a new playground development in this area of the township.

The 2020-21 Budget has set aside funds for community consultation
and concept planning for future playground upgrades and
development. Future upgrades and development will need to be
considered in line with an overall open space and playground strategy.

Printed copies of the Consultation Pack can be picked up from the Roxby Council office on Richardson Place, Community Library, Dunes Cafe and the Community Hub.
